It has only occurred to me within the last week that during Christmas past I normally make a website in an attempt to make up for the shortage of news distributed throughout the year . . .
2008 saw some significant events in our lives, as is evident in the first pictures. According to a second ultrasound performed in early December, the baby will weigh 8 pounds or more if he/she goes to the full 40 weeks (4 January 2009). Our house has been inundated with generous gifts of baby gear, attire, and consumables, and we are starting to feel prepared! Amy learned that she was pregnant after returning home from a school road-trip, which included watching two recent pregnancy movies Juno and Knocked Up.
I was away from home at the time, and have spent a good part of the year in some infamous air force haunts: Cold Lake AB, Borden ON, Winnipeg MB, and Bagotville QC. Amy and I spent a week catching up with Albertan family and friends in March, and in July Amata and I visited Niagara Falls together in the beautiful sunshine. To top it all off, Amy and I spent nine days in Europe between Paris and Barcelona and then a further seven on ship, stopping at Malta, Naples, Rome, Florence, and Nice (France).
Amy survived her last semester of school and her first trimester of pregnancy concurrently, graduating with her Masters of Public Administration after only two years of hard work. Her scholarly efforts and administrative persistence paid off with a permanent position with the federal government as a Telecommunications Engineer with Industry Canada.
Finally, to ensure that we'd have enough to fill our Christmas card, we had an addition installed directly over our single-car garage during a month-long blur in the spring. Our contractor Lyall (RIP) did a flawless job that deserves to be visited next time you're in our neighbourhood.
Both our families are healthy and happy. As this year concludes, Amy and I wish you love, hope, peace, and joy in 2009.
With love,
Wesley & Amy
