2023

2023 must have been a great year for the Okes - we started it on vacation in Florida, and ended it returning from vacation in Ecuador!

Avery celebrated her birthday on our first volleyball camp as a family: Better at Beach.  It would be a the start of a year of volley-cations for Amy, adding Montreal, California (with Myra), Chicago, Edmonton, Mexico, and Turks and Caicos!  When not travelling, Amy coached indoor and beach volleyball for Ottawa Fusion.  If you'd like to watch, subscribe to Amy on YouTube!

Gymnastics continues to be the other big activity in the household, with the girls continuing their competitive careers at the Ottawa Gymnastics Centre.

Both girls graduated in 2023, with Myra finishing at Knoxdale Public School, and Avery moving from intermediate school to the high school at Sir Robert Borden.

When not busy with competitive sports, we enjoyed ... recreational sports, and travel.  Amy's work took mom & dad to Anchorage, and we also snuck away to Charlottetown while the kids were at Camp Davern.

We had some good old-fashioned fun with the family in and around the city, including some gardening and even some farming at the BeetBox Community Farm.

To cap off the year, we spent 12 days of adventure and relaxation in Ecuador: Quito, Mindo, Otavalo, Baños, the Amazon, and Papallacta, and finishing with an overnight in Philadelphia on the way home!
